ART FIRST ARTE PRIMERO creates a place where imagination is inspired!

Our main goal is to create a world filled with cultural understanding through art and language and to empower children by nurturing their creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, and non-verbal communication skills through their expression in VISUAL ARTS, MUSIC, DANCE and THEATER! We offer a loving, artistic environment where your children will learn Spanish through play.


  • 11-week summer program beginning June 4th 2020

  • Children entering kindergarten through 6th grade welcome

  • Each week has an exciting theme for the children to explore. – We will do fine arts, learn Spanish and venture out on field trips and explore various cultures.

  • 8:00am – 5:30pm daily

  • Drop off & Pick up at Arte Primero Studio 

  • 1549 S. 1100 E. SLC UT 84105​​​​

  • Tuition is $230/week or $55/day a la carte

  • Registration fee is $50 and includes t-shirt and water bottle

  • Arte Primero is NOT a nut/dairy free facility

Week 1

June 4th & 5th

June 8th --12th

Emphasis in Spain, Malaga and surrounding Spanish Islands including: Majorca, Gran Canaria, Gomera

Children naturally love Picasso, his paintings are whimsical and have a natural child like allure. At the tender young age of 9, Picasso completed his first painting: “El picador”, a man riding a horse in a bullfight. Picasso believed, “Every child is born an artist.” In Arte Primero we do too! This first week of camp will be dedicated towards learning and creating everything PICASSO! Children will learn about his Blue Period, Rose Period, Cubism, Picasso’s abstract faces and more. Picasso wrote over 300 poems, we will create mixed media with kids writing their own poetry! Children will also learn about Spain and its surrounded islands, including: geography, music, food, traditions and celebrations.

Tuition: June 4th & 5th are $55/day.  The week of  June 8th is $230 or pick a la carte days at $55/day



Week 2

June 15th - 19th

Emphasis in South America including: Amazon, Pampas, Atacama Desert, Iguazu Falls and Altiplano

An artist’s delight to study the detail and art in each bug, beetle, dragonfly, butterfly and praying mantis is AMAZING! Children will study the designs and shapes of these magnificent creatures and learn how to draw them! They are found in every habitat from tropical forests to deserts to grasslands! You can see them almost anywhere in the world, because they live on every continent! Children will learn about bugs and butterflies from the world, highlighting South America. Including learning about South American countries including: geography, music, food, traditions and celebrations.

Week 3

June 22nd - 26th

Emphasis on Jackson Pollock, Action Art & Abstract Expressionism!

Have you ever wanted to throw a paint filled balloon at a canvas? This week PAINT will be flying, rolling, spinning, swinging, blowing and exploding! Please do not dress in your Sunday best! Children will learn outdoors to create some colorful rainbow art. Jackson Pollock was an American artist, known for his unique style of painting which involved flinging and dripping paints onto canvas. He painted with his canvas on the
floor, moving around it as he worked. Children will also create the “Artsy Smartsy Pollock Pulley!” A simple machine that creates art Pollock style!

Week 4

June 29th - July 3rd

Emphasis on planets, solar system and extraterrestrial life!

Blast off! Explore our amazing universe through art! Our focus will be on planets, solar system, black holes, galaxies, stars and designing your own futuristic spaceships!  Children will learn how to draw ET characters and Star Wars too!

Week 5

July 6th -- 10th

Emphasis on Fantasy Art and telling a story through Magical Surrealism

Imagination Soars! Enter the wondrous fantasy world of unicorns and dragons!  Children will learn how to draw fantasy creatures like gargoyle and fairies, create clay characters and tell a story through their imagination and magical surrealism. Children will learn about Salvador Dali and Ernesto Arrisueno.

Week 6

July 13th -- 17th

Emphasis in National Parks & Surrounding Landscapes: Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park

Go wild about Nature in Utah! We will draw and paint the scenic sights of Bryce Canyon, Delicate Arch, Capitol Reef and Wasatch mountains. Children will learn about native plants, animals and our scenic national parks! Children will create Utah inspired art in landscapes and more!

Week 7

July 20th -- 24th

Emphases on building self-esteem through ART! Dreams & Goals for higher education!

Art boosts a child’s self-esteem! Art motivates our children to be their BEST! We will create ME + ART, Art that highlights their unique personalities and qualities! Children will discuss their dreams and goals for higher education. We will visit the University of Utah. Children will experience a unique motivational approach through art, creating their personal motivation board!

Tuition: The week of  July 20th is $230 or pick a la carte days at $55/day. WE ARE OPEN ON PIONEER DAY, JULY 24th.


Week 8

July 27th - July 31st

Emphasis in Meso-America including: Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica. Ecosystems, traditions, culture.

Fly through the rainforest! Children will explore the vast jungles and indigenous people of Meso-America. Macaws, jaguars and the quetzal thrive in the warm and wet climates of the tropical rainforest and other jungle animals. Children will also understand the importance of protecting our T.R.E.E.S.

  • TEACH others about the importance of the environment and how they can help save rainforests

  • RESTORE damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down.

  • ENCOURAGE people to live in a way that doesn't hurt the environment

  • ESTABLISH parks to protect rainforests and wildlife

  • SUPPORT companies that operate in ways that minimize damage to the environment.

Through drawing, painting, sculpture children will bring a piece of the jungle home in their art and inspire love for our fragile eco-systems. Children will learn about Meso-America: Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica including geography, music, food, traditions and celebrations.

Week 9

Aug 3rd - 7th

Emphasis in photography, abstract art and mixed media

Children will create whimsical art through the mixture of photography, abstract art and mixed media.  We will explore artists from each genre: Latin American photographers, including Graciela Iturbide and Olmo Calvo and abstract artists Joan Miró, Paul Klee with photography. Children will take their own photographs and learn about depth of field, focus, subject matter, balance and composition in photography.

EXPLORING PLANETS THROUGH ART-Space Art is so COOL, we do it twice!

Week 10

Aug  10th - 14th

Emphasis on nebula, moon, comets, photosphere

There is so much to learn and explore in the Solar System! Planets, photospheres, nebulae, moon, asteroids, comets are full of artistic adventure! Create your own planets and aliens. Explore the gigantic canyons and deserts on Mars. Dive into your own galaxy and what does it look like in your imagination. We will create wearable art like planet earrings, bracelets and pendants for yourself or mom/dad. This is our last week of Art First Summer Camp! We will make it SUPER FUN and memorable!
