Our History

ArtFirst ArtePrimero started at Emerson Elementary School. I had just moved back from Europe and was expecting our first baby girl, Naeemah. What started off as a way to stay connected to art and children turned out to be what it is today!

Daniel Bergman was the principal at the time at Emerson. Dan wanted to merge the International Pathways Spanish Immersion program from the classroom with the arts in ArtePrimero.

We were housed inside the school for 3 years holding the ArtFirst After School Program and Summer Camp since 2010. We were very successful and we branched out to our own studio in 2014. Our new home at 1549 South 1100 East is warm, colorful and beaming with love and energy from our children and their creations! Our community is very happy with our new art home!

Daniel Bergman was an inspiration to our community and a great supporter of our program. Sadly we lost Dan but his message of living life to the fullest lives on! “Keep on truckin!” ArtFirst ArtePrimero is proud to present the Daniel Bergman scholarship fund through Love Art. A non-profit organization dedicated to exploring art in all communities. If you are a family in need of financial support, we offer scholarships to ArtFirst ArtePrimero. We have never turned any child or family away.

ArtFirst has been successful in our community through word of mouth, kids telling kids, parents telling parents. We truly love our children and art! We hope you join our art community!
